During this tour we will visit the most western volcano of the Ecuadorian Andes. This volcano collapsed during a catastrophic eruption forming a 3 kilometer wide caldera. Nowadays the caldera is filled with water and is known as the Quilotoa Lake. The viewpoint at Quilotoa offers you stunning views of both the greenish lake and the mountain ranges surrounding it.
ITINERARY
1- Pick up 07.00 AM from ´La Mariscal´ area
2- We head to Squisili/ Pujili or Zumbahua Indian markets (depending on the day)
3- Arrive at Quilotoa, hike down to the lake ( takes about 1 hour approximately)
4- Ascent to Quilotoa town (takes about 2 hours approximately)
5- Lunch
6- Arrive at Tigua community to see the painters of the colorful Andean paintings
7- Return to Quito
