Otavalo is especially known for the famous indigenous handicraft market in the center of the town offering textiles, musical instruments, leather goods, indigenous costumes and clothing among others. Being surrounded by several mountains, lakes and river streams it is also a great way to combine the market with incredible views outside of Otavalo. Just as incredible as the views are the Otavaleños, the inhabitants of this town, which maintained their traditional identity, customs and legends like no other indigenous group.
