YASUNI LODGES
SHIRIPUNO LODGE
The Shiripuno Lodge is located in the Huaorani Reserve adjacent to the Yasuni National Park about 6 hours traveling from Coca. Here you can find the same biodiversity as in the park while remaining the human impact a minimal. Its remote location in the pristine tropical rainforest provides and extraordinary opportunity for birding, natural history excursions and nature explorations.
All cabins have private bathrooms and hammocks. No electricity is available, all light is by candle creating a perfect harmony with the sights and sounds of the rainforest.
The Lodge, with its comfortable, clean, environmentally harmonious accommodations and dedicated staff, will be your home base for unforgettable expeditions.
ITINERARY
ITINERARY 4 DAYS AND 3 NIGHTS
DAY 1
Quito-Coca by airplane or bus. From Coca we will travel south by small pick-up or bus to Shiripuno Bridge (approx. 2 hours). Lunch. Then we will take the motorized canoe downstream to reach the Shiripuno Amazon Lodge, which is at 210 meters above sea level. The ride will take approximately 4 hours and it offers a great chance to get introduced to the wide diversity of wildlife in the rainforest. Dinner and lodging.
DAY 2
Breakfast. We will take a hike (3-4 hours) in the primary forest on the Magic Canopy Trail, where we will enjoy a scenic view of the Amazon Basin at 310 meters above sea level. The Huaorani and the naturalist guides will give explanations about the biodiversity of the rainforest and the medicinal plants that local people use. This hike requires good physical condition. Lunch, dinner and lodging.
DAY 3
Breakfast. Then we will take another hike in the primary forest where it is possible to see different kinds of plants and animals. Lunch. In the afternoon we will take the motorized canoe and make an excursion into one of the small rivers or the oxbow lake where it is possible to see different species of birds, especially the bizarre looking Hoatzin. Dinner. Night excursion to get into the night life of the forest and to look for Caiman. Lodging.
DAY 4
After breakfast, navigate upstream to the Huaorani Community (Neoneno), where you will have the opportunity to see a typical house and try the real blow gun, your guide will explain about their traditions and customs. This visit will take maximum 1 hour. Lunch. We will continue the navigation upstream to the bridge where we are going to take the bus back to Coca (arrival at 16.00 approx.

Birdwatching (05:45 optional). Breakfast. We will take a hike on the El Saladero Trail where sometimes there is a chance to find the animals licking minerals and admire the richness of plants and trees along the way. Lunch. In the afternoon we will hike back to the campsite. Night excursions to get into the night life of the forest and to try to see Caiman. Dinner and lodging.
DAY 4
Breakfast. We will take another hike on a different trail to try to see monkeys or other animals. Lunch. In the afternoon we will take the motorized canoe and go to one of the small rivers or ox bow lake where it is possible to see many different species of birds, including the bizarre looking Hoatzin. Dinner and lodging.
DAY 5
